A History of Care
In the spring of 1992, just after the National Institutes of Health endorsed the Roux-en-Y gastric bypass procedure, we began as Bariatric Treatment Center with a single facility in Addison, Michigan. Here we designed and continuously improved our protocol for the gastric bypass surgery, developing an entire program that goes beyond surgery to deliver long-term success. Now under the Barix Clinics program, our centers offer gastric bypass, lap band and gastric sleeve surgery in Michigan, Ohio and Pennsylvania.
We understood early on that the procedure itself was only a tool--it needed to be surrounded by a complete multidisciplinary care team before, during, and after weight loss surgery.
