Tips

One of the best results of bariatric surgery is the relief of your related conditions. Many people find that the chronic ailments they have experienced go away after bariatric surgery. Diabetes, sleep apnea, cardiovascular disease and hypertension are all examples of conditions that have been significantly reduced or even eliminated by bariatric surgery--sometimes even before the weight is lost.

The Barix Clinics Advantage

The Barix Clinics program has more success helping people achieve their weight loss goals than anyone else.  Why?  Because we do much more than just surgery, we have a comprehensive program of care, before, during, and after that is unlike anything anyone else offers.

A History of Care

In the spring of 1992, just after the National Institutes of Health endorsed the Roux-en-Y gastric bypass procedure, we began as Bariatric Treatment Center with a single facility in Addison, Michigan. Here we designed and continuously improved our protocol for the gastric bypass surgery, developing an entire program that goes beyond surgery to deliver long-term success. Now  under the Barix Clinics program, our centers offer gastric bypass,  lap band and gastric sleeve surgery in Michigan, Ohio and Pennsylvania.

We understood early on that the procedure itself was only a tool--it needed to be surrounded by a complete multidisciplinary care team before, during, and after weight loss surgery. The Barix program team has successfully helped nearly 40,000 patients over the past 18 years with this long-term commitment to bariatric surgery.

Commitment To Quality

Through the success of our patients, we became known not only for our weight loss surgery program, but also for our exceptional care centers. At Barix program hospitals, weight loss surgery patients are treated with the respect and attention that they deserve. The hospital facilities are designed for their special needs and the staff is well equipped to support the needs of our patients at every stage. At each one of our facilities, the most important people are our patients.

Our commitment to the quality of your experience and its success is recognized by the accreditation of the Joint Commission. Each of our centers has earned and maintains the Joint Commission's Gold Seal of Approval by adhering to rigorous performance standards.

The Barix Clinics Program Process

You will receive guidance through each step of the process, beginning with all the information you need to make a decision. Then, our specialists help you with your insurance approvals or payment options. You will have pre-surgical medical testing using our unique knowledge of bariatric surgery patients. Plus you will receive nutritional support before, during and after your surgery. Finally, you will have excellent follow-up care through regular visits, participation in support groups and access to the On-Track program on our patient website.

You can be confident in our program because it is continually reviewed and improved. We regularly review our procedures and protocols internally; we also bring in outside expertise. Any proposed changes are scrutinized and tested methodically and adopted system-wide if proven superior. We have continually perfected our techniques over 18 years and more than 40,000 bariatric surgeries.

Throughout our program, our focus is on your success. When you choose Barix, you should expect to succeed.
