Part of the Barix Clinics' comprehensive program is support through your transition to a healthier life. From the healing process when you head home to support for you as you adopt a healthier lifestyle, the Barix Clinics program professionals are there for you. You'll complete a series of follow-up medical visits, you'll have access to a nutritionist, a surgeon, and perhaps most importantly, you'll join a community. There's an exclusive club of our patients, the formerly obese. You'll be part of that exclusive club that actively participates through the Barix Clinics' Connection website and an extensive network of support groups.

Barix Clinics is there for you with:

  • Barix Clinics' nutrition education program - shortly after surgery, we begin the process of helping you learn healthy eating habits that, combined with the surgery, will help you lose weight and build your new life.
  • Barix Clinics' Guide to Good Health - it's an easy-to-follow guide with detailed information on an eating program to follow during your recovery, as well as long-term advice in the "Eating for Life" section, to help you maintain a healthy eating regimen.
  • Barix Clinics' local support groups - at these monthly meetings, you'll have a chance to share your experiences with others, hear about their new lives, and even develop some lasting friendships. Check our Support Group Locator for a group in your area.
  • Barix Clinics' Connection - developed especially for you and it's available when you may need it most - after business hours and on weekends. It offers valuable information - including an online cookbook, current support group information, a place to track your progress, and much more.
  • Follow-up care - to ensure you stay healthy and successful, we recommend follow-up visits at two weeks, six weeks, three months and one year, plus once a year into the future.  In addition, we will review your blood test results every three months in your first year and annually after that. Throughout these tests and your annual healthy follow-up visits, our medical staff will work with your doctor to help coordinate your care.
  • Reconstructive surgery - patients who'd like to eliminate the excess skin that results from significant weight loss may consider this option.
  • Message Boards - We've created a convenient and safe environment for you to express your dreams, desires, fears and concerns with other Barix Clinics program patients.  You'll find warm, welcoming encouragement--patients supporting patients.  Day or night, you'll be able to connect with someone on the message boards.  Weather celebrating WOW moments or helping someone through a tough day, Barix patients are amazingly support.  Check it out, we're sure you'll agree.
  • Free Monthly Newsletter - The Center for Disease Control and Prevention states on their website, we live in an 'obesogenic' society characterized by increased food intake, nonhealthful foods, and physical inactivity.  Bariatric surgery provides an effective tool that amplifies your efforts towards a healthful lifestyle.  Because our society often supports obesity rather than healthy weights, the On Track with Barix newsletter helps you with timely articles, information, tips, recipes to support you.  The best part is it's free.
