Tips

One of the valuable tools you'll receive as part of the complete Barix Clinics program is our exclusive Guide to Good Health. It's an easy-to-follow guidebook that gives you detailed information on the eating program we recommend during your recovery and on a lifestyle that supports a healthy weight.

Pre-Surgery Testing

Once all your questions are answered and you're confident in your decision to go forward, there are some specific preparations to undertake.

The most important preparation is medical. Our clinical team will take you through a testing procedure specifically for you. You'll undergo only the tests that are medically significant for you as a bariatric patient, not a battery of one-size-fits-all surgery tests many bariatric practices require.  Our experience with thousands of bariatric patients helps us limit medical tests to only those that are necessary. Depending on your current health, your surgeon may ask you to meet with a medical specialist - such as a cardiologist - before you have weight loss surgery.

The Barix Clinics program is a real-life solution to a real medical problem. And in today's world, real-life means dealing with insurance companies whenever medicine is involved. That's why Barix Clinics has insurance specialists on staff, people knowledgeable and experienced in dealing with most of the insurance plans available. They follow a proven and refined process to secure the approval of your insurer, before you incur medical bills.

We help you prepare, so you will be prepared to go forward.

Our thorough presurgery testing and education help ensure your success.

About a week before your surgery we'll perform a final round of tests and examinations, including one by a bariatric internist to verify that you're medically ready for surgery. And you'll meet with a bariatric-focused respiratory therapist who will perform an assessment of your respiratory health and help you be ready for the day of surgery. Your respiratory therapist may suggest breathing exercises to ensure your health and healing.

You'll also begin Barix Clinics' education program, which teaches you the skills and behaviors necessary for substantial, sustained weight loss. You'll meet with a registered dietician, who will start teaching you about nutrition, and a nurse to begin talking about a healthier life.
